Can someone explain FedEx cup
I think this whole FedEx cup thing is very lame, but I have a q.
According to the FedEx cup web site, the top 30 go into the final event which is the tour championship, at which point the points are re set. I assume this means that all 30 players start the tournament tied at zero. Then it would seem that whoever wins the tournament, wins the FedEx cup. But the promo material on the web site suggests that some players have a better chance of winning than others (I assume based on past performance through the playoffs). But if all the points are reset then does not each of the 30 players have an equal chance of winning the cup i.e. whoever wins the tour champinoship wins the cup. I'm confused. RE: Can someone explain FedEx cup
Its a tour championship with points given for playing certain tournaments, it was designed to get all the best players to play more often and to play the tournaments in the system...Fed Ex tournaments that run thru the year have a total of 27000 points (per tournament) given for the various places, winner of said tournament gets 4000 points...the last of the tournaments include the upcoming Barclays, Deutch Bank (where tiger is defending), the BMW, and the Tour championship are the last four of the Fed Ex tournaments for the year, they are considered to be the 'playoff' tournaments and are worth 50000 total points each, at the end of those tournaments the player who has amassed the most points in the Fex Ex system will be the champion, get the season championship trophy and 10 million...this is the first season for this points system and championship and Tiger Woods is currently in the lead with 5 wins for the season , 1 win and 2 seconds for the major tournaments, and is also playing his best golf of the season the last two weeks, perfect for going into the playoff tournaments...
